I wanted to update my tasting notes from two days ago when I had a tasting of my 2022 and 2023 Cabernets. One of the other wines was a 2021 Sena from Chile, $165 retail rated at 100 Points. I was wrong about the other wine which was the 2021 Pandemonium from Paso Robles a blend of Lagrein, Zin and Merlot so not a Cabernet. It is priced at $30 and was excellent as far as I was concerned. It had plenty of concentration, I assume from the Lagrein. It shows you what tasting wines blind can show you surprises. Last night I actually liked my 2022 Cab first with my 2023 second. Like I said I really liked the Pandemonium and rated it a close third. I thought the Sena was a little thinner so I will taste it again tonight. Also I am thinking about bringing up my 2021 and 2024 Cab tonight or even a higher end 2021 Cab from another producer. As you can tell I am having a great time!

Last night I decided to taste two more 2022 and 2023 wines. This time Italiano Style. Again I preferred the 2022. I am going to continue to taste more 2022 and 2023 wines, next maybe Terre Melange. You might think I taste all my wines but it is hard to taste 25 different wines, but I do try to taste all the wines when they are first bottled. That is going to be hard in January when we will be bottling all our 2025 red wines and all our 2026 white wines except our 2026 Chardonnay which I would rather bottle in July each year. Actually next July, 2027 we may bottle some of our red wines that need only 10 months of aging, but since most customers mix cases our system will not allow us to release those wines early.

Ah, my favorite time of the year, the last weeks of long days and soon Kate, my firstborn's birthday, the 23rd. Actually the latest sunsets here in Geyserville are on June 27th and June 28th at 8:43:04 but the morning sunrise is the earliest at 5:45:31 on June 13th yesterday. The longest days of the year here in Geyserville are for 10 days from June 16 to June 26, about 14 hours and 54 minutes but Sunday, June 21 is the longest by a few seconds at 14 hours 54 minutes and 12 seconds, Summer Solstice and Fathers Day. I love long days, that is why I love visiting Oregon this time of year. But my wife, Pat says, no more long driving days for me!
This week we will be bottling our 2025 Fresco Rose, 100% Pinot Noir and our Chardonnay, 50% aged in French Oak.
I have still been tasting some of my wines. Last week I tasted the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Terre Melange. After tasting the Cabs and Italiano and also the Super Tuscan wines, the Terre Melange was noticeably softer, but they had good balance. All three wines tasted similar I also tasted the 2024 Sagrantino and 2023 Nebbiolo. I just love the Nebbiolo, but probably would not be everyone's preference since to me it is not balanced but has this intense Cherry flavor upfront. The Sagrantino is real balanced, more like a more concentrated Merlot. Next I am looking forward to tasting my Block 6 compared with the My Zin!
