Tasting Notes: 1999 Zin and 1999 Sauvignon Blanc- Great wines at great prices

My Daughter and Son-in-Law have just relocated back to Texas from Santa Rosa and bought to me my stash of Sonoma wines. The stash seems smaller than I remember! This past week I tried the 1997 Limerick Lane Zin, the 1998 Christopher Creek Zin and David's 1999 Zin. They were all very good to fabulous with very good varietal fruit the right balance of fruit, oak and acidity. David's 1999 was the best of the bunch. There was deeper flavor of fruit without loosing brightness and clarity and a long finish. It seems to be a "starlet" with a long career ahead of her. My only disappointment is I have but 11 bottles left.

The 1999 Sauvignon Blanc stacks up to be one of the best I have drank from California. It has the right balance of fruit and acidity to make it a very food friendly wine and just the right amount of "grassy Sauvignon taste" to just drink anytime. This is a wonderful break from Chardonnay.
