David Coffaro Vineyard and Winery Winemaker's Diary

Week 9

February 24, 2002 to March 2, 2002

As I write this the temperature outside has reached 82 degrees. It makes me think about the vines budding out and then the beginning of our 2002 Pre-Harvest offering. Depending upon how organized we are, you could see the offering by the beginning of April.
We are frantically preparing for the Russian River barrel tasting on this weekend. Last year we had over 1000 people show up for Saturday. We will again be serving Pat's famous potato soup and 6 wines. The wines will be barrel samples of our 2001 Zin, Estate Cuvee, Petite Sirah, Block 4, Terre Melange and Carignan. We will also be open for limited tasting on Friday (no food or entertainment). Our hours for the week-end will be from about 10:30 till 4:30. If someone was to show up before 10:30, I'll see what I can do. This year we have on hand new videos by U-2, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, A Tribute to Brian Wilson, Yes, and Don Henley. Of course we will start off with Woodstock. It will be loud with lots of BASS.
