	Tuesday May 9, 2017 In a few days we are heading up to Canada as far as Jasper. We are staying 4 nights at Fairmont Lake Louise. The whole trip will be 3500 miles in my Tesla Model S. It will be fun.......   We took a walk out in the vineyard yesterday and it looks like we will have a large crop, maybe enough to make as much as 7,000 cases. That is why I am selling 2017 Dave's Cuvee for as low as $7 a bottle when a Club member purchases a whole case of 12 bottles, so $84 for the whole case. I have told Catarino to only harvest the ripest bunches in our old vines, probably starting in the first week of September, also to harvest only the ripest bunches in most of our other varieties. That way we should have over 12 tons of fruit for Dave's Cuvee. We may have to harvest that fruit in two stages. In the past few years we have waited until the end of harvest to go through the whole vineyard and pick fruit that was missed the first time through and also bunches which were not ripe yet. We may even blend in some barrels of wine we do not need for all the wines we will be making. Last year we blended in some Aglianico which helper give the wine a little more structure. I wish all of you could come here and taste the 2016 Dave's Cuvee which is in the barrel until we bottle in July.........enjoy 8:45 Pm: Yes that stock we had with onion soup was from many times just collecting for months. Look back on April 17 entry .....So Brad was here for a great evening of incredible soup from stock collected from many times, mostly everything left over. I know some of you may be concerned but what ever is boiled is good in a stockpot for reduction. I am hesitant to get into Politics. I try to convince myself I can see both sides but as I have said a few times, most times I think the Democrats are more fair for the poor people, but as we see some Trump supporters feel the Democrats have not done enough so we now have Trump. He is a control person like I like to be, but most times I want to make everyone happy. I fail everyday, but I get the sense Trump does not represent all of us..............do his die hard?         Thursday May 11, 2017 I just purchased an old Canon PC 400 Copier from Amazon. I was hoping it was similar to the one I purchased about 10 years ago, but this copier is 20 years old SO I contacted Consume Bargain the place who sold me the product through Amazon and asked if I could return: "You can return it but with a cost to you of a 15% restocking fee and our shipping charge and your cost to ship to us". So I had not opened the box, but now I did. It took me about 1 hour to figure it out............yes it was old and even heavier than my 10 year old machine which makes great copies. So I purchased this copier with hope it would do a nice job similar to my Canon 940. I loaded it finally. This is old, It will only take one sheet of paper at a time and takes about 30 seconds, my 940 is out in 10 seconds. I put the scroll bar for dark or light and put it in the lighter side. I finally had a copy. It was smeared and dark. So I turned it down to the middle and the copy came out still too dark and showed through copy on the back side of the paper I was copying. Then I turned it down a little and it came out very light. I tried many more types of paper including colored paper and I was not successful in making a decent copy. I would suggest that no one purchase this outdated defective copier. Buyer beware!! 8:00 Pm: I posted that entry to practice to send a rating on Amazon. I could go on with how rude that company was but I have said enough here. Josh and Jose who usually work only in the tasting room or winery working on wine..........have been encouraged by Catarino with my approval to work in the vineyard for the next few weeks. Catarino is scaring me...............He says we could do 100 tons this year so they and Salvador and Martha and of course Catarino are out in the vineyard every morning before it gets too hot TO Thin. Thinning includes many things. What they are doing most these few weeks is pulloff small shoots to encourage the strong to produce great fruit. As I said I do not need extra fruit. Now, I could make more wine from these small shoots of potential wine, but that is a long story. Tomorrow is another day!   Saturday May 13, 2017 We are heading out for a while as far as Jasper Canada, over 3300 miles round trip in My Model S 90D Tesla. I just charged to over 270 miles because the first stop is Corning California, a little over 200 miles away. A lot of that drive is on Highway 5 so I can drive about 80 miles and hour. At 80 I will use a lot of miles so I should still have about 20 or 30 miles left when I get there about Noon today. We will charge there for an hour and have lunch. Then we will head off to Mount Shasta to stay the night. I won't be able to post a diary while gone so I hope to document some of our adventure and post when I get back...........
