David Coffaro Vineyard and Winery Winemaker's Diary

December 12 - December 25, 2010

Thursday December 23, 2010

I hope everyone has a very happy holiday season!!

I have finished my Excel spreadsheet which includes the schedule of blending for our 2010 wines. We ended up using some grapes that were purchased by the WineGerrilla, Bruce. He has decided to make less wine this year and we can use the grapes since our Estate crop was very light. After the first of the year, our order from will be updated to reflect the total wines to be produced. Our prices will go up by one dollar on our 2010 Estate Futures but we will be offering 6 new Sonoma County wines at attractive prices. Tentatively they will be 6 Zinfandels: (#1) About 365 cases of a Russian River blend with about 20% Petite Sirah; (#2) about 340 cases of a 100% Zinfandel from a vineyard in Chalk Hill; (#3) about 195 cases of a Dry Creek Zinfandel from Mounts Vineyard which will include some of our Petite Sirah; (#4) about 145 cases of a Dry Creek Zinfandel from mostly our new vines from the 6th block which will include some Petite Sirah from the Mounts Vineyard; (#5) about 245 cases from a vineyard in Dry Creek Valley which will include about 25% of Petite Sirah from Mounts; (#6) Finally we will be offering about 195 cases of a Dry Creek Zinfandel produced from 100% Zinfandel raisins. In all we will only be producing about 4,200 cases of Dry Red wine. Also in February we will be bottling about 70 cases of our New Estate Sauv Blanc and 25 cases of our Estate sparkling wine.
